The Start in 1996
I oktober 1996 the company was formed, back then with the name"Expressbudet", and operated in Linköping, Norrköping, Eskilstuna and Katrineholm together with Vikboland’s Taxi AB. Larger clients of the haulage firm were among others SJ Expressgods, Poståkeriet, Celsius Aerotech, Ericsson, Saab, Eckerud Exhibits, Nova Print and many more. The company had at the most, over 300 business clients. During the years of 1997-2000 the company had seven messenger cars and small lorries running.

The company also invested in enviornmentally friendly fuels, such as rape seed oil RME, and biogas.

From Messenger Car to Coach
At one of Norrköping’s Kommun’s public procurements in 2000, the company received an agreement with three school transport vehicles in the eastern parts of the Kommun -Vikbolandet.
Large areas of Vikbolandet was operated by the three vehicles which together drove about 3,000km per week, with pick ups to and from Vikbolandet’s six schools.

After closing down two schools (2002 & 2003) together with decreasing number of students, the Kommun looked at yet another optimization of the organisation during the spring/summer 2006.

This led to two of the company’s three school transport vehicles becaming redundant within the new school transport organisation.
The one vehicle that is left operates mainly in the south-east parts of Vikbolandet.

The Coaches
Today, 95% of the coach traffic is regular traffic, mainly school transports. Our newest vehicle has access to the computer system Mobitex. The system processes ordering of special school transport, patient transportaion, complementary transportation and transportation for the disabled. The idea is to intergrate this into the existing school transportations to the end of achieving a more cost-effective service.

Within the new school transport organisation, our newest vehicle has had more traffic assigned.

Time schedule for our vehicles you can find at Norrköping’s Kommun’s website www.norrkoping.se under the header “skolskjuts”. The coach’s name is "Buss nr 1".

Coaches and Safety
In the media it is often debated about coaches and the safety surrounding them. Bad brakes, poor fire prevention and lack of seatbelts is mostly discussed. So how is it really? Concerning the brakes, coaches are not an exception from all other heavy vehicles. It is difficult to always guarantee an even braking effect at the axle’s both wheels. The total break effect is rarely affected though.

What about seatbelts? Well, in the older vehicles it is not permitted to put in seatbelts as the carriage body does not have the abraision resistance. Coaches from 2002 and younger must have diagonal safety belts at all seats, so that problem will be solved in the future. Lap and diagonal belts is an option in several coaches. To be safely belted is the most important aspect in difficult accidents foremost if the coach rolles or overturns.
Always fasten your seatbelts when riding a coach!

Our new vehicle, a Mercedes 818 Auwärter, has lap and diagonal belts in all 22 seats.

The Coach Service in the Future
Our coach company, as most in the countryside is built in the main on procurement traffic. In our case it is school transports in the remote parts of Norrköping’s Kommun.

All pubilic procurement has a final date, a date where the orderer no longer can, wants or is able to extend the agreement with its framework of contractors. Our six year agreement with Norrköping’s Kommun will end 30th June, 2010.

Before that the Kommun shall have finished a public procurement concerning transportion of disabled, patient transportion and school transports that applies from 1st July, 2008. a public procurement of this size, is announced in the entire EU and is open for everybody who fulfuills certain criteria to participate. The criteria could among other things be debt-free with the tax office and that the company does not have any bad credit markings and has a VAT number and a traffic license etc.
